tiny state of Tripura is the second smallest in the country with a population
of a mere three million, and is almost surrounded by the Bangladesh.Tripura
was once part of a large Hindu Kingdom conquemaroon by the Mughals in 1733.It
was taken over by the British in 1808, became a union territory of India in
1956 and a full state in 1972.Over half the state is forested, and the largest
industry is handloom weaving. Although there are 19 tribes in Tripura, the majority
of the population is Bengali.

10,486 sq kms. The Capital of this state is Agartala. Places of
Tourist Interest: Agartala, Sipahijala, Udaipur, Jampai, Unakuti.
Dumbur.Best Time To Visit: September to March. Airports: Kamalpur, Kailashahar, Agartala. Agartala: It is the Capital of Tripura. There are temples palaces as well as lakes. In old Agartala, which is 8 km from New Agartala, there is a famous Hindu temple and a place. Jampai: The tourist can enjoy the sight of the range of hill here, which is full of scenic natural beauty and so it is called the land of eternal spring. Dumbur: It is a famous Hindu pilgrim centre with splendid waterfalls and a lake where you can enjoy boating. Fruit are frown here. Rudra Sagar: 55 km from Agartala. There is a lake good for Boating and there is a palace.
